Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and Bridges

Common restorative treatments such as crowns and bridges are performed when teeth need to be repaired of more extensive damage.

Dental crowns are restorations used to repair teeth that have been weakened. A tooth that has sustained damage from a fractured amalgam filling, has a large cavity, or has been treated with root canal therapy may be treated with a dental crown. The crown will protect the natural surface of the tooth from further damage. Dental crowns are made from high quality materials and designed take the brunt of chewing force, alleviating pressure on the natural tooth structure.

A dental bridge is different from a crown in that this restorative treatment is intended as a form of tooth replacement. A custom made dental bridge spans the gap between two teeth when one or more teeth have been lost. Bridges may be affixed to natural teeth using two dental crowns, which are fused to an artificial tooth or teeth for the restoration of functional chewing and an attractive smile. We believe that dental care is an integral part of living well. The care that we provide using dental crowns and bridges is carefully planned and fully explained. We want our clients to understand the need for recommended treatment, the details of treatment, and any viable alternatives to conventional treatment. Our crowns and bridges are designed to suit each client’s unique needs, using materials best suited to their specific biological needs.

Though lab-fabricated restorations are an option, clients may also choose to have customized ceramic crowns made immediately while they wait. CEREC (or ceramic reconstruction) is a technological device that allows Living Wellness Dental to quickly design and manufacture dental prostheses. The CEREC technology used in our office has changed the way clients receive restorative care. CEREC restorations are not only metal-free, they are an attractive restoration that looks very much like natural enamel tooth structure.
