Dental X-Rays

Dental x-rays allow the staff at Living Wellness Dental to find problems that may have started developing below the gum line or within a tooth. X-rays are just one of several diagnostic tools used in our practice for finding problems oral health issues that require immediate attention from a professional. Cavities, infections, disease, and other problems can be spotted using these images.

What are the benefits of Dental X-Rays?

X-rays are a safe, non-invasive and painless technology used to enhance trained professionals’ ability to diagnose structural deterioration or irregularities that may be invisible to the naked eye. There is extensive information available on x-ray safety. The amount of radiation exposure of a traditional dental x-ray is less than the average human would expect to be exposed to by nature in a typical day. Routine x-rays are used to monitor treatment progression, procedural success or exacerbation of oral issues and are a valuable part of a client’s road to achieving oral health and wellness. There are several advantages to dental x-rays:

  • Dental x-rays allow the dentist to see into the tooth, bone, and gums beyond what is physically seen
  • Dental x-rays offer a method of diagnosing common dental problems early on to avoid progression
  • Dental x-rays produce a safe amount of radiation to complete, though a protective apron is provided for further protection
  • Dental x-rays allow a visual for a client to see more than just surficial properties of their smiles
  • Dental x-rays are affordable
  • Dental x-rays increase the likelihood of achieving a proper diagnosis

How often do you need Dental X-Rays?

Most clients who schedule their first appointment with our team will have a series of x-rays done to capture their dental status and form a critical part of their dental record. Additional x-rays are performed at certain intervals and where certain procedures dictate they are necessary. Our team will determine how often dental x-rays will need to be done based on a patient’s oral health, overall health, and current conditions that need to be monitored by our professionals.
