Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT)
Biofilm is a term used to describe the harmful bacterial build-up found on our teeth and gums. If left unmanaged, biofilm can be difficult to remove and can lead to gum disease, cavities and peri-implantitis.
Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) is a technology and dental science driven system that is employed to minimize the invasiveness of traditional hygiene techniques while maximizing comfort, efficiency and safety towards managing harmful biofilm. The Airflow is a combination of warm water, air and a soft cleaning powder that feels like a spa treatment for your teeth, gums and tongue. The non-abrasive Airflow transforms the hygiene experience, gently removing plaque from hard to reach areas while simultaneously polishing tooth surfaces!
GBT offers benefits unmatched by traditional hygiene approaches. It is great for exposed roots, and stain removal on natural teeth. GBT is also more effective for orthodontic clients as the Airflow can access hard to reach places created by appliances in the mouth. One of the unique features of the Airflow is that, because it is non-abrasive, it can be used for cleaning implants. Because Airflow is so therapeutic and comfortable it is a fantastic option for children and clients with sensitive gums and teeth.
