The Living Wellness Dental team provides experienced, safe, and effective dental treatment to patients in the Calgary, Alberta, area seeking restorative dental options. One such restoration is a highly versatile dental crown that can also be used for cosmetic purposes. Over the many years that dentists have used crowns, they have been crafted from a wide range of materials, including porcelain, gold, alloys, and combinations of these. When you visit our office, you can expect only the safest, biocompatible, and most attractive restorations will be used to treat every patient’s long-term oral health concerns and overall wellness.
Today, dental crowns are typically made at an offsite lab and crafted from durable and natural-looking ceramic or porcelain. However, there is one option that is gaining popularity, including being used here at Living Wellness Dental – CEREC (CEramic REConstruction) same-day crowns. This customer-crafted, precisely manufactured option offers unmatched convenience because it is crafted within our office in a single appointment. Traditionally, crowns require multiple appointments as they are made at an offsite lab. You would need to provide a physical model of your mouth, in the form of an impression, that would be sent in as you wait weeks for your crown to be fabricated.
With advanced CEREC technology, our team can create a highly detailed and precise three-dimensional image of your mouth using a comfortable intraoral camera. We will then discuss what restoration is most appropriate for you before sending the digital impression to the CEREC software, which will create your crown (or other restoration) from a block of ceramic right here on-site.

A dental crown serves many purposes, including:
- Changing the appearance of an unattractive, misshapen, or discoloured tooth
- Protecting and covering teeth that are weakened, decayed, broken, worn, or have a large filling
- Securely anchoring a dental bridge in place
- Completing a dental implant
Dental crowns are long-lasting and durable prosthetics that can restore the function and aesthetics of the teeth without too much special care required other than maintaining proper and thorough oral hygiene. As with natural teeth, certain habits should be avoided, such as grinding or clenching teeth, biting or chewing hard substances like fingernails or ice, or using teeth to open any type of packaging.
Living Wellness Dental serves patients in Calgary, Red Deer, Airdrie, Canmore, and surrounding areas in Alberta. Contact us at (587) 600-6935 for more information about dental crowns.
